Culture Quest FAQs & Terms and Conditions

  • Where do we meet?
Public Hunts: Meet inside the British Museum’s Great Court, upon entering the main entrance (Great Russell St), turn left to find the Knidos Lion. We’ll be waiting in front of his absent eyes Private Hunts: We’ll meet outside the museum, in front of Starbucks (51 Great Russell St, which is across the road, facing the museum’s main entrance), before joining the security queue together.
  • What time should we arrive for Public Hunts?
Public Hunts start promptly at: 10:30 AM on Wednesdays 1:00 PM on Fridays & Saturdays Queues are long! Please allow at least 20 minutes before start time for security lines, & another 15 minutes for the toilets & cloakroom (6.5 million people visit the British Museum, the most visited building in the UK…) Late arrivals may miss the briefing and start, unfortunately we can't delay the group.
  • Who can play?
Teams comprise 2 to 4 players (5, if kids are included) Public Hunts: Minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 30. Children: Teams with kids under 13 must include an adult and Kids under 7 years old play free.
  • Do I need to buy a museum ticket?
Nope! Entry to the British Museum is free however, in order to enter the front entrance (advised, as lines are half the time), you need to register a ticket on the BM website here: https://ticketing.britishmuseum.org/events?k=general%20admission
  • Which entrance should I use to the British Museum?
Front Entrance (Great Russell Street): is reserved for people with tickets (which are free and registered at this ticket link). It is just a security measure and the line moves quickly for those with tickets (whose timing is arbitrary). Back Entrance (Montague St): This line can be up to 45 minutes on weekends and holidays, and is for groups and non-ticket holders.
  • Do you host corporate team building?
Yes, corporates, hen and stag dos, anniversaries and birthday parties, we’ve had the pleasure of hosting group hunts. From intimate client hosting to large employee engagement events of 200 people (and plenty of Fortune 500 / FTSE-company experience)
  • What should I bring?
Fully charged batteries in your phone or camera Comfy shoes (you’ll be walking in the largest indoor space on Google St view!) A small bottle of water is recommended, although food’s not allowed in the galleries. Download a pedometer if you’re curious about your step-count on the hunt!
  • Can I bring luggage or large items (that harp I carry around)?
The museum does not allow large objects or luggage inside, but here’s a convenient left luggage site you can use nearby.
  • What skills / roles are in a team?
Roles can overlap per teammate, but the following skills are pulled on: 🧭 Indiana Jones (Navigator), good with a map. 📸 Annie Liebowitz (Photographer), ready to snap your team selfie with each treasure. ✍️Shakespeare (Scribe) or perhaps that accountant son of yours who doesn’t let a point escape his win-streak! 📖 Hermione Granger (Reader), at the ready to catch light-hearted bonus challenges embedded in the text.
  • What is the difference between a Public & Private hunt?
Public Hunts: are with friendly competition, where teams (of 2 to 4 people) play against each other. Upon meeting (within the Great Court, after security lines), you’re briefed, teams strategise, and after regrouping, we tally scores within the museum Private Hunts: you can schedule your hunt as per your schedule, we meet outside the museum, after security lines we tell you about the building (did you know it’s older than America?! That it takes 2 weeks to clean the glass ceiling!) before setting you up on your treasure hunt. Depending on what you order (Premium or Classic) we’ll either meet you at the end for score tallying or leave you with an answer sheet in a sealed envelope.
  • What’s included in the Public Hunt?
A hunt pack includes your treasure hunt, a scribe’s sheet, the navigator’s map A fun briefing at the start with tips and strategies. A meet-up at the end for results, bragging rights, and a little prize!
  • What is your cancellation policy?
Public hunts: are non-refundable, but rescheduling is possible depending on availability. Private hunts: Refundable with 72 hours’ notice. Rescheduling is possible based on availability. No-shows or late arrivals are non-refundable.
